The 2023 Ford Escape will soon be making its way onto Columbia roads, with production set to begin sometime in November. If you’re awaiting the release to trade in your current Ford, you may be wondering, “How many miles per gallon does the 2023 Ford Escape get? Is the 2023 Ford Escape fuel-efficient?” While the EPA has yet to release the official 2023 Ford Escape MPG ratings, not much is expected to change from the 2022 model year. The standard base 2023 Ford Escape gas mileage is estimated to sit around 30 MPG combined, and this number will only increase thanks to the hybrid and plug-in hybrid versions. How Many Miles Per Gallon Does the 2023 Ford Escape Get?

For the 2023 year, there are 8 trims that Fulton shoppers will eventually be able to choose from: Base, Active, the ST-Line, the ST-Line Select, the ST-Line Elite, the Platinum, and a Plug-In Hybrid (PHEV). The Active trim has since replaced last year’s SE and SEL configurations, and all the ST-Line trims and Platinum trims are available as hybrids.

Trims aside, let’s talk about the engine choices. There are three engine options: the 1.5L I-3 engine, which was used on last year’s model and is standard on the Base and Active trims with front-wheel drive, the 2.0L I-4 engine, and the available hybrid 2.5L I-4 engine, which is available on the ST-Line and Platinum trims. For those looking for a bit more security on their Lake of the Ozarks drives, you can sacrifice a bit of fuel economy by swapping out FWD for AWD. Though, the 2.0L I-4 engine only comes in AWD, and the PHEV comes only with FWD.

See below how engine choices can influence the 2023 Ford Escape gas mileage, but note that these are not yet official EPA estimates and are based off of the 2022 Ford Escape MPG ratings:

181-hp 1.5 I-3 Engine

  • With FWD: 28 city / 34 highway / 30 combined mpg
  • With AWD: 26 city / 31 highway / 28 combined mpg

250-hp 2.0L I-4 Engine

  • AWD Only: 22 city / 31 highway / 26 combined mpg

210-hp 2.5L I-4 Engine (Hybrids)

  • With FWD: 44 city / 37 highway / 41 mpg combined
  • With AWD: 43 city / 37 highway / 40 mpg combined
